Why a Commendation Tracker?

I've played Sea of Thieves for over 2400 hours, enjoying virtual adventures with family across the country. I'm focused on completing commendations, which gives us goals and incentives, especially with all our accumulated gold. While some players prefer to just "play and let happen," I like using commendations as challenges and motivators. The Shrouded Ghost remains elusive, but it's part of the fun.

That said - RARE provides you two ways of seeing where you are. The in-game menu or their website. Neither of those options has a "search feature". My crew mates and I would always be saying the same things "do we have to sell the Chest of Tribute to the gold hoarder to count?" "Where is that commendation for killing Gold Skeletons?" Then we would be in the menus trying to locate it and crash into an island. We also had a lot of scenarios where we would accomplish a task and then find out if we had used the blowpipe it would have counted toward a commendation.

So - I started out creating this as a tool for my and my crew when we are sailing. I have it open on a separate screen and can easily reference it while I'm playing. Since it is not possible to sync with the SoT website I have made it as easy as possible to get your data into the site.

Commendation List page

The Commendation List page allows you to search for any commendation by keyword. Tabs across the top let you filter out factions. Logged in users can update their status by clicking the "Done" button as they finish commendations.

Commendations HUB page

The Commendations Hub page is what I have opened when I'm playing the game. It allows me to quickly tap on icons to see all commendations with those keywords. On the right side you can see your progress in all the factions.

World events appear on the Hub page as well. Now when you see a World Event pop up you can quickly see if there are any commendations you need to work on for that event.

In the screen below you can see what happens when I clicked on the "Ocean Crawler" button on the Hub page. It takes me to the Commendation List page with only those commendations visible. Now I can see that I need to get out my poison darts AND try to join a Guild with a high distinction level.

Pinned Commendations

The "Pin" icon on the Commendation list page allows you to save a collection of commendations to a separate page where you can focus on them and enter the progress (quantify) you have toward that commendation. My plan is to also have a report you can pull up that shows pinned commendations that you and your crew both have matched on so you know it is something that they also need to complete.
